He is the founder Surgeon and Senior consultant at this Centre. His all ENT training was in USA, and after passing
AmTerican Board of Otolaryngology in 1968, returned to India in 1970. He has performed more than 35000 surgeries
for cases of chronic otitis media and about 5000 cases of otosclerosis since 1971 with excellent results. And he has
been a pioneer in Rhinoplasty (cosmetic surgery) and Skull Base surgery. Also he has popularized the microscopic
functional sinus and nasal surgery.
He is the first one to repair CSF Rhinorrhea (1980) and Lateral skull base surgery, mainly Infratemporal fossa
type I appraooch (1988) in India.
And also first one to start Intratympanic Gentamycin injection for Meniere’s disease for control vertigo and
tinnitus in 1997.
And he has also popularised the management of TMJ syndrome which is number one cause of headache in humanity.
Dr. Mahadevaiah has been teaching and demonstrating otologic and Rhinoplastic surgical procedures at his centre
and many other centres in all over India. He is invited all over India and abroad to deliver guest orations at
the national and international conferences.
He has devised few instruments which are useful in otologic surgery, and standardized surgical techniques to
achieve dry ear in 99% and to improve functional hearing level in 65% of cases.
He is the founder President of Indian Society of Otology for five years (1991 to 1995). President of Association
of Otolaryngologists of India (1995) and President of All India Rhinology society (2005).
